Basic Shell Navigation

The Openwings core services provide a virtual hierarchy of systems and entities. The Openwings shell provides some basic commands for navigating these systems and entities.

Note: The Openwings Explorer is a GUI-based tool that is easier to use and is a replacement for the older shell tool. After reviewing the basic commands here, you may wish to skip ahead to the Explorer section.

In Windows, run the shell by executing owsh.bat, located in the <OW_HOME>/openwings-${VERSION}/bin directory.  In UNIX, run the C-shell script owsh.csh, located in that same directory.

After the script runs, you will see a welcome message and then a shell prompt similar to this one:

Openwings@Root\>

If you wish, type help and press Return to see a list of valid commands.
